Inspired to finish

I’ve been inspired to finish an old project – I’m sure you can all relate to this, I started this journal about 2 years ago and got it so far and then ran out of ideas, time, embellishments, what ever it was the project was stalled. Then last week I was sent a link to a vintage journal given to a lovely lady here in New Zealand by her very creative friend. And this wasn’t any ordinary journal, wow!! blow your socks off amazing!! Not only was I inspired to finish but my closest stamping family were all inspired too and we all started collecting for the journals we’re going to make. I now have a box where I’m putting all the trimmings, embellishments, and bits and pieces I’m collecting.

I will use Stampin’ Up!® product as well but for this type of project the more layers you have the better so these extra trimmings and embellishments will help make it extra special.

Anyway back to my first journal, I spent some time on Pinterest and I found lots of free printables that I saved and then printed out onto card. I printed on Very Vanilla and Confetti Naturals White. This is where I found the lovely bird in the cage for the front cover.

Now finished front cover of my Vintage Journal

I made the flower from designer paper in Sahara Sand and White and sponged it in Sky Blue ink, added an Antique Brad to the centre and sprayed with water and scrunched to get the effect. The lace is Lace Trim in Sahara Sand, I even got out my sewing machine for the stitching which ended up being a bit small, but hey, I now know it needs to be larger next time. The metal piece was from my new box of trinkets one from a pack I picked up at The Warehouse. and tied on with lengths of Linen Thread.

Amongst the printables I found some tags that were too large when I printed them so I punched out the parts I wanted using the Note Tag punch. The first tag is one I bought from a store and the second one I made when I started this project and the punched ones are on the bottom row. I just love how these coordinate with the Botanical Gazette Designer Paper and the Nature Walk stamps I used which have both now retired.

I loved being inspired to finish this project. It will now be part of my display for classes and events. I hope that this post will inspire you to finish something that you started. Please leave a comment to let me know.
